Developmental Stages

The stages outlined below are typical for each age group. North Texas Christian Early Education Center provides a home-like atmosphere to ensure comfort and security, aiding in smooth transition for each child.

 

Infants

Dependable and Vulnerable

  • Social – Babbling is encouraged/beings to imitate facial expressions with peers.
  • Emotional – Nurtured often by teacher.
  • Language/Communication – Babbling/responds to actions of peers.
  • Physical – Begins kicking and crawling.

One-Two Years Old

Dependable and Vulnerable

  • Social – Engaging with pictures and peers
  • Emotional – Begins expressing emotions/listening skills
  • Language/Communication – Begins engaging in conversation/ asking questions
  • Emergent Reading/Writing – Develops in listening skills
  • Math – Introducing shapes/sorting colors
  • Physical – Crawling/Walking/Jumping/Kicking

 

Three Years Old

Experimental and in a Hurry

  • Social – Free/structured play with peers
  • Emotional – Dramatic play/ begins developing problem solving skills
  • Language/Communication – Begins to form legitimate sentences introduce letters/stories
  • Emergent Reading/Writing – Introduce alphabet/letter sounds
  • Math– Shapes /manipulatives
  • Physical– Walking/Running/Jumping/ Kicking/Balancing

 

Kindergarten Years

Eager, Impulsive, Active, Manipulative

  • Social – Interactive play with peers/inviting peers to create and invent
  • Emotional – Aware of surroundings/Contentious of others needs and feelings
  • Language/Communication – Develops sentences and educated questions
  • Emergent Reading/Writing – Alphabet recognition/letter sounds/reading/handwriting
  • Math – Patterns/counting
  • Physical – Coordinated running skills/hopping
